Governor Bill Graves
Announces Support for Musil
Citing experience and stands on important issues,
Graves announces his support for Greg Musil in Kansas’ Third District
Congressional race
OVERLAND PARK, KANSAS (24
July 2000) -- Greg Musil, the leading candidate for the Republican nomination
for Kansas’ Third United States Congressional District, recently received the
support of Kansas Governor Bill Graves.
"I have supported Greg Musil in the Third Congressional
District,” Graves said.
“Greg was my county chairman in 1998 and was supportive of me in a
primary in a visible way. When people
support me, I’m willing to support them."
At a recent Friday news
conference, Graves told reporters he supported a number
of candidates in various primaries throughout the state. He and First Lady Linda Graves later attended
an event for Musil supporters in Kansas City, at which Graves formally endorsed
Musil.
Governor Graves also worked
with Senate President Dick Bond and Kansas Attorney General Carla Stovall to
earn support for Musil by signing a letter sent to community leaders in the Kansas
City metro area.
In the letter, Graves, Bond, and Stovall wrote, “Greg Musil is the only
Third District candidate for U.S Congress who combines both national and local
legislative experience. He has cut taxes
responsibly in Overland Park. He is the
only candidate in the primary who has supported growth and economic development
as an elected official. He knows how
important a sound educational system is to our businesses and our parents. He knows how important metropolitan
cooperation is to our collective future.”
“I am honored to earn the
support of these respected and dedicated public servants,” Musil said. “Their efforts to lead and represent Kansans
are an inspiration to me as my message of reasonable, responsible Republican
leadership gains momentum in the final days of this important election.”
